“Oh, sorry, I am busy building my home, or nest as you call it.

Well, maybe next year you will remember to put out your wasp trap in April to catch the fertile queen. When she came out of hibernation she was fully fertilized from last fall. The queen will begin building her nest until workers for her colony are born. Then the workers will complete the nest. Only then will she spend all of her time in her nest laying 100 eggs per day. The drones which are all female will be feeding the larvae and the queen.

This month of May the paper wasp nests are usually the size of a quarter generally. However, there are exceptions to the rule. My advice to you is to keep looking up to the eaves of your home for nests that are just beginning. Many people simply do not notice what is growing above them. Several times I have been sent out to take care of a wasp nest that is right above the entry door! This could be dangerous of course. Wasps are very protective of their nests and they even have a sentry looking out for threats. A mature paper wasp nest can have hundreds of wasps ready to swarm and even chase you if they feel that you are a threat.

My best advice is that you consider a seasonal maintenance service with Nik @ Total Pest Control 541.579.6847. Nik will diligently make sure that nests are knocked down while they are just beginning. This is just part of the service provided. Spraying an insect barrier inside and out will prevent ants, spiders, earwigs, and wasps of course from getting a foothold. Nik also will de-web the outside of your home. He has the experience and expertise to know how to safely treat pests in your home. As always there are no contracts, just a promise to provide you and your family peace of mind knowing that your home is protected from harmful and annoying pests.
